U.S. Senate Opens Roblox Child Safety Investigation
Scrutiny of Roblox continues to expand as state officials, federal lawmakers and families question whether the gaming platform has done enough to protect children from grooming and sexual exploitation. Since our last update, when Arkansas filed a lawsuit accusing Roblox and Discord of enabling predators to target and groom children, South Dakota reached a $15 million settlement with Roblox following its own child-safety investigation. The agreement requires additional safeguards, including age verification, while directing millions of dollars toward child-safety initiatives and law enforcement.
Now the pressure has reached Congress. On Aug. 14, U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin and Josh Hawley launched a bipartisan Senate investigation seeking records about child sexual exploitation reports, moderation practices and what Roblox knew about risks to young users.

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has opened an investigation into Roblox over concerns that children may have been exposed to grooming, exploitation and other harms on the platform. Roblox Arbitration Fight in Parent’s Fraud Lawsuit
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals appeared skeptical of Roblox’s attempt to force a father’s fraud lawsuit into private arbitration. The father alleges Roblox misled him into believing the platform was safe for his children, leading him to spend thousands of dollars on Robux before one of his daughters was allegedly contacted and groomed by an adult posing as a child. This time, it’s Oklahoma. It seems that every week, another attorney general is suing Roblox or forcing the platform to answer for its child safety practices. Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond’s lawsuit alleges that Roblox marketed itself as a safe place for children while failing to adequately protect young users from predators, including adults allegedly able to disguise themselves as children and communicate with minors on the platform. The lawsuit also claims that children as young as 5 have been able to create accounts without parental permission, while Roblox allegedly prioritized revenue growth over stronger safeguards. Louisiana Sues Roblox, Accusing Platform of Enabling Child Exploitation
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation, alleging the gaming platform “created, curated and perpetuated an online environment where child predators thrive, unite, hunt and victimize kids.” The complaint claims Roblox failed to implement basic protections such as reliable age verification, parental controls, and monitoring of explicit user-generated experiences, citing games like “Escape to Epstein Island” and “Public Bathroom Simulator Vibe” as examples of exploitative content.
