Sean Combs Lawsuit: 120 new sexual assault allegations

Sean Combs Sexual Assault Lawsuit
120 individuals have come forward with claims of sexual assault and abuse against the rapper, with allegations dating back over two decades.

Sean “Diddy” Combs faces a new wave of sexual assault accusations, with multiple lawsuits expected to be filed. During an Oct. 1 news conference, attorney Tony Buzbee announced that he is representing 120 individuals who have come forward with claims against the entertainment mogul, with allegations dating back over two decades,  Chloe Melas and Antonio Planas reported on NBC News.

Buzbee stated, “We will expose the enablers who enabled this conduct behind closed doors. We will pursue this matter no matter who the evidence implicates.”

Buzbee added, “Many powerful people … many dirty secrets,” the lawyer said of the allegations. He added that his team has “collected pictures, video, texts.”

According to Buzbee during the conference, the allegations against Combs will include: “violent sexual assault or rape, facilitated sex with a controlled substance, dissemination of video recordings, sexual abuse of minors.”

Buzbee exclaimed, “It’s a long list already, but because of the nature of this case, we are going to make sure, damn sure, we are right before we do that… These names will shock you.”

The attorney stated that over 3,000 people have contacted his office with accusations against Combs, and he intends to begin filing lawsuits in multiple states within the next 30 days. He also mentioned that additional defendants will be named at a later time.

According to Buzbee, 62% of the new accusers identify as African American, representing more than 25 states, with most coming from New York, California, Georgia, and Florida. He noted that 25 of the accusers were minors at the time of the alleged incidents, with some dating back as early as 1991. One accuser, Buzbee claimed, was as young as 9 years old at the time of the alleged incident.

In a statement, Combs’ attorney, Erica Wolff, stated, “As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus. That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors.”

Wolff continued, “He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court if and when claims are filed and served, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”

Combs is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, after prosecutors from the Southern District of New York charged him with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution, as outlined in an indictment unsealed last month. Combs entered a plea of not guilty, and his lawyers have asserted his innocence.

Despite being denied bail twice, his legal team submitted paperwork on Monday to initiate an appeal of the bail decision.

Combs’ legal troubles have escalated since his ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, filed a civil suit against him last year, accusing him of assault and sex trafficking throughout their relationship. Combs, who strongly denied the accusations, settled the case with Ventura for an undisclosed amount. Months later, surveillance footage surfaced showing Combs assaulting Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel hallway, prompting the mogul to issue an apology.

Following Ventura’s lawsuit, several more legal actions have been brought against Combs, including one from Dawn Richard, a former member of the girl group Danity Kane, who claimed that Combs groped, assaulted, and imprisoned her, as well as threatened her life.

Combs has denied all allegations, describing them as “sickening allegations” from individuals seeking “a quick payday.”

Many of the lawsuits against Combs were filed in New York City, which has the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law, allowing claims of sexual abuse to be brought even after the statute of limitations has expired.
