In April 2022, Lorin Christianson attended a celebration in Dallas’s Deep Ellum neighborhood. After the event, feeling unfit to drive, a coworker arranged a Lyft ride for her.
The following morning, Christianson reviewed notifications from her doorbell camera and discovered footage showing the Lyft driver groping her as he escorted her to her front door. She appeared visibly impaired in the video. A neighbor intervened, prompting the driver to leave, ABC News affiliate WFAA Channel 8 reported.
Encouraged by a colleague, Christianson reported the incident to the Dallas Police Department. She also contacted Lyft to obtain the driver’s information for the police report. Lyft responded by refunding the ride and stating that necessary actions had been taken, though specifics were not provided.
Christianson has since decided to pursue legal action against Lyft, aiming to highlight the company’s responsibility in ensuring passenger safety and to advocate for improved support systems for affected riders.
Her attorney noted the frequency of such incidents involving rideshare services and is advocating for the installation of cameras in vehicles to enhance safety measures.
The Dallas Police Department’s investigation is ongoing.
