Summary: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit accusing Roblox of failing to protect young users from predators and harmful content. He joins a growing list of state attorneys general—including those in Louisiana, Kentucky, and Florida—who say the platform has not done enough to safeguard children. Roblox denies the allegations and points to new safety measures and parental controls.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit accusing Roblox of failing to protect children from online predators and harmful content, arguing that the platform prioritizes revenue over user safety, Fox News Channel 7 in Austin reported yesterday.

In his announcement, Paxton said Roblox markets itself as a safe space for minors but has instead become a place where predators can access children.

The lawsuit follows similar actions by other states, including Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill and Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman, both of whom allege that Roblox allowed adults to target minors on the platform.

In October, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier also issued criminal subpoenas to Roblox, accusing the platform of becoming a “breeding ground for predators.”

Roblox responded to the Texas lawsuit by saying it remains “deeply committed to child safety” and emphasized that its policies are stricter than those found on many similar platforms. The company stated it has introduced more than 145 safety updates this year, including enhanced parental controls, expanded chat restrictions, an upcoming age-estimation system using video selfies to help verify ages, and open-source AI tools designed to block the sharing of personal information. Roblox also highlighted its longstanding cooperation with law enforcement agencies such as the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The company reiterated that it employs thousands of moderators, uses advanced automated tools to filter content, and restricts communication between adults and teens unless a real-life relationship is verified through QR code or phone-contact matching.
